Flash Flood Watch Issued

A Flash Flood Watch will be in effect from Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday morning. Rainfall totals between 2 to 4 inches will be possible, but we should see closer to 2.5 inches around Lexington. The heaviest rain will occur late Tuesday night through Wednesday morning.

  WEST TENNESSEE...INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING AREAS...IN NORTH
  MISSISSIPPI...ALCORN...BENTON...CALHOUN...CHICKASAW...
  COAHOMA...ITAWAMBA...LAFAYETTE...LEE...MARSHALL...MONROE...
  PANOLA...PONTOTOC...PRENTISS...QUITMAN...TALLAHATCHIE...TATE...
   TIPPAH...TISHOMINGO...UNION AND YALOBUSHA. IN WEST
  TENNESSEE... BENTON...CARROLL...CHESTER...CROCKETT...DECATUR...
  FAYETTE... GIBSON...HARDEMAN...HARDIN...HAYWOOD...HENDERSON...
  HENRY... MADISON...MCNAIRY AND WEAKLEY.

* FROM TUESDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING

* RAINFALL TOTALS BETWEEN 2 AND 4 INCHES WILL BE POSSIBLE.

* HEAVY RAINFALL MAY LEAD TO FLASH FLOODING. HEAVY RAINS IN
  SHORT PERIODS OF TIME WILL RESULT IN QUICK RISES IN WATER
  LEVELS ALONG AREA CREEKS AND SMALL RIVERS. THIS WILL ALSO
  RESULT IN FLOODED ROADWAYS AND LOW WATER CROSSINGS IN AREAS
  THAT RECEIVE FLASH FLOODING. SOME ROADS MAY BECOME IMPASSABLE.
  IF ENCOUNTERING FLOODED ROADWAYS...REMEMBER TO TURN AROUND AND
  DON/T DROWN.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP THAT LEAD
TO FLASH FLOODING. FLASH FLOODING IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.

YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION
SHOULD FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS BE ISSUED.
